In 1970, Chet Lowe was born in the Bahamas. Given that he grew up in a household where faith and life coexisted on a daily basis, it is not unexpected that he was reared in a religious environment. From an early age, Ira and Pam Lowe, his parents, were loyal and caring. Chet started a Vacation Bible School in his family’s garage when he was seven years old.
The events of Lowe’s early adolescence reinforced his feeling of purpose. He set off on a mission to help build a church in South Korea when he was thirteen. He traveled to Liberia this year to assist in the construction of a school. This improved his understanding of ministry and confirmed his right to act responsibly.
He married Andrea in 1995, and they relocated their child to Liberia during the country’s civil upheaval. They did this out of conviction rather than comfort, and eventually they contributed to the founding of Josephs Brethren, which offered shelter, direction, and transformative support to roughly 1,500 child soldiers and other children of war. After adopting them, they raised four additional children.
Chet Lowe has been helping single individuals, married couples, parents, foster care, and missions at Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale for almost 40 years since returning to the United States in 1982. He has helped many people overcome hardship and holds a master’s degree in Christian counseling. He established Patmos: Reality Discipleship in 2005 with the goal of reaching young adults in El Salvador, Brazil, the Bahamas, and the United States.
I want to wrap up our conversation about Lowe’s life with the pain in his heart because his journey has been one of loss. His younger brother, a Navy officer, died in an aircraft accident in 2011, marking the first incidence. After writing this essay, both of his parents passed away, but he has continued to support and educate people while allowing loss to heighten his sensitivity.
Lowe was appointed head pastor of Coast Hills Church in Aliso Viejo after relocating to Southern California in 2015. Calvary Chapel South Bay changed its name in 2021 because the South Bay congregation was urged to take on leadership positions. Pastor Chet Lowe and Andrea are in charge of the church, which is currently called Calvary LIFE. Learning the Word, Investing in Relationships, Following the Way of Christ Jesus, and Engaging Our World are the four pillars of the church.
For Chet Lowe, the next opportunity to inspire, recruit, or achieve an objective is far more thrilling than checkpoints. This man has devotedly followed his profession from his early beginnings in his parents’ garage in the Bahamas to the streets of Los Angeles, and he continues to do so with the same zeal.
